Overview: The CFPC/CGS Award of Distinction in Health Care of the Elderly is supported by the Canadian College of Family Physicians (CFPC) in collaboration with the Canadian Geriatrics Society (CGS), and recognizes contributions to quality patient-centered care of Canadian seniors. This achievement praises leadership in the care of a clinically challenging population, and celebrates the essentializing of social accountability, equity, and advocacy.

Call for Nominations - Peter McCracken Physician Innovator in Education Award : CLOSED

Overview: The CGS Peter McCracken Physician Innovator in Education Award recognizes a geriatric medicine or care of the elderly physician’s accomplishment in ONE of the following areas:  

  • Develops and uses innovative teaching and/or evaluation methods for geriatric medicine OR
  • Effectively uses strategies at a local or national level to increase geriatrics content in the curriculum OR
  • Develops strategies to increase interest in or recruitment to geriatric medicine OR
  • Conducts an innovative and/or influential research project related to geriatric medicine education

    Deadline: February 12, 2019

    Overview: Through a collaboration between the Canadian Geriatrics Society (CGS) and Pfizer, the CGS is pleased to announce the creation of an award to support either clinical fellows or residents in training to conduct a relevant research project in the area of urinary incontinence in older persons.  Recipients will be granted up to $10,000 over a 12 month period. There may be more than one recipient.

    Call for Applications: 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting Travel Grant Opportunity - Supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) : CLOSED

    Overview: The Canadian Geriatrics Society (CGS) encourages networking and exchange of ideas among emerging scholars working within geriatrics. To meet these ends, this competition provides travel funds to attend the CGS Annual Scientific Meeting in Halifax from May 2-4, 2019.  The competition is open to undergraduate medical students, resident physicians in core internal medicine or general internal medicine residency programs, subspecialty resident physicians in Geriatric Medicine or Family Medicine Care of the Elderly programs, masters and doctoral students currently enrolled in postgraduate studies, and post-doctoral fellows who are currently in training
