Dear CGS Community,

In follow up to our previous statement, the Canadian Geriatrics Society (CGS) has made the difficult decision to postpone educational offerings in the coming months due to the rapidly evolving circumstances that are associated with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic. The CGS Executive and the ASM Planning Committee have decided that transitioning the event to a virtual ASM is not feasible at this time due to the increased demand on our community. We send strength and optimism to older adult care providers and their patients in this difficult time.

The CGS is considering developing online educational webinars to be available later in the year and we want to know which topics you would find most informative. Please take a few moments to complete the survey found here to help the CGS determine the community’s needs.

As a smaller Canadian not-for-profit association, the CGS relies heavily on the financial success of the ASM in order to ensure the sustainability of the Society and its activities. For those who registered for the 2020 ASM, we ask you to consider donating all or a portion of your registration fees to the Canadian Geriatrics Society Scholarship Foundation, which promotes interest among medical students in the practice of Geriatrics. To donate your fee, or request a refund, please email

Healthcare providers are needed now more than ever and we are immensely proud of the strength of our community. To highlight the diverse ways CGS members across the country are contributing to the CGS vision “a Canadian health care system that ensures older adults age with dignity and live life to the fullest” , we are compiling short video clips and encourage you to participate – #IamCanadianGeriatrics #CanadianGeriatricsStrong Click here for more information.

The CGS appreciates your continued support and we hope to see you all in person in Vancouver in 2021!
