On behalf of the 2018 Scientific Planning Committee for the Canadian Geriatrics Society (CGS), it is with great excitement we announce that early bird conference registration is now open for the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM)!

This year, the conference will be held in beautiful Montreal April 19 to 21 at the Hotel Bonaventure Montreal. The theme of the 2018 ASM is “Advances in Care: From the Individual to the Technology”.

Topics that will be explored at this year’s meeting include:

  •          Gerontology, robotics and domotics
  •          Concepts of and approaches to care in gerontology
  •          Information, communications, technologies and older adults
  •          Geriatric  and interdisciplinary assessments
  •          Health system, care pathways and geriatric patients
  •          Primary and secondary prevention in geriatrics

The educational program is primarily designed for geriatricians, family physicians and other allied health professionals who care for older adults and are interested in geriatric health care. The program is also designed for medical students and other health professional students, as well as medical residents.

CGS Annual Scientific Meeting: Thursday, April 19 to Saturday, April 21, 2018

Registration for the ASM will begin on Thursday, April 19 at 4:00 p.m. followed by a welcome reception from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Educational sessions will run on April 20 and 21.

CGS Gala Dinner: Friday, April 20, 2018 – Saint James Club

Join your friends and colleagues for the annual Gala Dinner at the Saint James Club in Montreal. Tickets are available for purchase when you register for the conference. A limited quantity is available, so please do not delay! Tickets will not be available for purchase on site. A semi-formal dress code will be in effect.

4th Annual CGS Fun Run/Walk: Saturday, April 21, 2018

The 4th annual CGS Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday morning. Challenge your colleagues, create teams to compete with other centres and fundraise to support the CGS Scholarship Foundation.

National Geriatrics Interest Group (NGIG) Student Day: Saturday, April 21, 2018

"Healthy Aging: Innovations and Strategies in Geriatric Medicine and Research"

The annual NGIG Student Day will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 during the ASM. The NGIG Student Day is organized by the National Geriatrics Interest Group for medical students interested in geriatrics. This is a great opportunity to learn from Canada’s leaders in geriatric medicine and meet fellow like-minded students from schools across Canada. CME Day: Thursday, April 19, 2018
This one-day course covers practical and relevant geriatric topics and offers a unique small-group learning opportunity for practitioners who wish to gain practical skills to take back to their communities. This interactive day will include presentations and case-based discussions from Canadian faculty experts on a variety of geriatric topics, such as chronic pain, psychiatry, chronic diseases, neurology, oncology and palliative care. Registration is limited!

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations will only be accepted on or before March 31, 2018 (less administration fee). No credits or refunds are allowed for cancellations received after March 31, 2018. No liability is assumed by CGS for changes in program, date, content, speakers, venues or cancellation of the event.

  • Payment must be received in advance in full to guarantee your registration.
